IMC

The original company was founded in 1906 by Harold Beckett, the grandfather of the late Richard Beckett, who retired as Chairman in 1990 and who was the stepfather of Paul Bouscarle, the current Chief Executive of our parent company, Lincat Group plc.

The early products manufactured were potato peelers and silver burnishers. In fact, IMC was the first company to produce a peeler with an integral electric motor. In 1956, IMC introduced a range of food waste disposers, an idea that was years ahead of its time in Europe. The kitchen machinery product range then grew through the introduction of waste compactors and the PC1 chipper in the 1970s, Pot Boy, pre-rinse sprays and M Range universal peelers in the 1980s and SYS2000 and WastePro waste treatment systems in the 1990s.

In 1984, IMC diversified into bar equipment, with the launch of the Bartender stainless steel underbar system. Barcooler modular backbar refrigeration was introduced two years later, followed by Barkeller and BK top-loading bottle and can coolers, 'Frostar' glass frosters and Mistral single and double door bottle coolers.

In December 1994, IMC became part of Lincat Group plc. Lincat is a public company quoted on the London Stock Exchange, which owns three other equipment manufacturers: Lincat Ltd, Mercury Appliances Ltd and Britannia Kitchen Ventilation Ltd.

IMC's future is underpinned by ongoing investment in new product development, the PC2 chipper, MF Peelers, M135 & MC90 bottle coolers, F2 bar system and the SP peelers have all been launched in the past few years.

In 2006, IMC combined all of it's manufacturing into one site in Wrexham. The investment in this new facility and the new infrastructure will ensure IMC continues to provide products that combine quality and style with value for money and peace of mind.
